Favorite Couples:  Was it my imagination or were the first dances shorter than usual?  That said, I liked them all.  It wasn’t until the second half of the evening that I was able to really pick my favorites, or actually least favorites.

Kirstie’s Viennese Waltz was lovely but the Paso, not so much.  Kirstie is typically an excellent performer and she was dancing with both Maks and Tristan – I expected their Paso to be HOT – you know, like Melissa‘s except hotter because if anyone can play dominatrix, it’s Kirstie.  She opted for the role of an angel  which wouldn’t have been so bad if she’d been the only one wearing wings – she’s quirky enough to pull it off.  Maks and Tristan in wings just didn’t work for me.  Thankfully, the wings disappeared fairly quickly but the routine was still lacking.  I’d hoped to see much more of the three together or to see Kirstie alternate more quickly and more often between the two.  Kirstie, Maks & Tristan should have been smokin’ hot  together – but they weren’t.

I was also disappointed with Shawn’s Trio Samba.  Yes, the dance was fun but there was barely any Samba in it.  I’m with Len on this one – Derek and Mark were self-indulgent.  Derek is a talented choreographer – he could create an amazing Samba for three that would knock our socks off and still be recognizable as a Samba.  I’ve been watching since Season 1 – I watch because I enjoy the dances.  Why do the pros sometimes think that the very dances they were drawn to pursue professionally are less than good enough for us?

Who’s Going Home?:  Maybe Kirstie – she’s had two lackluster dances in a row.  Maybe Apolo, maybe Emmitt.  Apolo and Emmitt had really good nights but do they have the fans to pull them through?  I honestly don’t know.
