Dancing With the Stars Season 6 Week 3

  • Marlee & Fabian danced the Jive to You May Be Right (Billy Joel)  21
  • Steve & Anna danced the Tango to Jalousie (Alfred Hause’s House Orchestra)  21
  • Cristian & Cheryl danced the Jive to Don’t Stop Me Now (Queen)  25
  • Mario & Karina danced the Tango to El Tango de Roxanne (Moulin Rouge)  21
  • Shannon & Derek danced the Jive to Goody Two Shoes (Adam Ant)  24
  • Adam & Julianne danced the Tango to I Can’t Tell a Waltz From a Tango (Alma Cogan)  21
  • Marissa & Tony danced the Jive to Girlfriend (Avril Lavigne)  19
  • Priscilla & Louis danced the Tango to El Choclo (Lalo Schifrin)  26
  • Jason & Edyta danced the Jive to I Got a Woman (Ray Charles)  23
  • Kristi & Mark danced the Tango to Rio (Duran Duran)  27

Favorite couples (still): Kristi & Mark, Jason & Edyta, Marlee & Fabian. Given the fact that Marlee can’t hear—and the Jive reduced her eye contact and physical contact with Fabian—she did an amazing job keeping the rhythm as well as she did. Honestly, if we didn’t know Marlee was deaf, we wouldn’t be able to tell from her dancing.

Couples to watch: Shannon & Derek, Cristian & Cheryl—they’re getting better each week and may sneak to the top yet.

Judges: I thought the judges were unnecessarily harsh with Marissa—she danced well, she looked like she was having a good time and she looked natural on the dance floor. If their only criticism was boring choreography (and that’s all they talked about), they could have told her what she did well–and told Tony to create more challenging choreography. Of all of the things the celebrities should be criticized for, choreography isn’t one of them—that’s strictly the dancer’s responsibility. *Len seemed cranky last night—towards practically everyone.

Behind-the-Scenes: Normally I don’t care for the behind-the-scenes shots—it typically feels staged and I usually hit the mute button. This week though, I did enjoy seeing Steve practice the Tango with Jonathan while Anna was out sick.

Other thoughts: The judges love her but I just can’t warm up to Priscilla—and I think it’s because she has such limited facial expression. Even when she smiles, it doesn’t seem like a genuine smile—there are no crinkles around her eyes.

Who’s going home?: I have no idea. I’m afraid that it will be Marissa and I’d like her to stay awhile longer—I don’t think she’s a contender for the top spots but she’s fun and she’s talented. I’d also hate to see Steve go—he’s fun. I’d like to see Adam or Priscilla go—Adam just annoys me and I just can’t warm up to Priscilla—but I’m afraid that Adam has a strong fan base and Priscilla is scoring well so I doubt that I’ll get my wish . . .
